Crystallo Suggestum is a platformers style game where you have to survive inside of the crystalline caves with the hope to find the exit. it is built to have an easy tutorial but expand and explore like the meat boy games.
Unlike the other games on the list, this was the first game where the need of protypes were not needed. This is because i already had a great base plan to go in with and and Art and Animations were already done for me.
The Crystallo Suggestum is planned to be a platformer with tight movement controls and with the ability to dash, it should feel fluid to play through each level!
Requirements
The Genre that i am following for this week is called “Platformer”. A platformer is a simple concept where you have a player controller, most of the time affected by gravity, jumping to different platforms and typically killing small enemies like in the super Mario games. Therefore, these game require a Jump, Left and Right.
Art
The visuals were done by Ansimuz from the unity AssetStore. https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/2d/characters/warped-caves-103250 This was done to save time and to focus more on the gameplay and ensure that i have no bugs in the code, in which i have done as there is 0 bugs in the code and it is easily accessible.
The Player Model was done by Bardent from YouTube, however i did adjust the model a little bit. https://www.youtube.com/c/Bardent This was also done to save time, however i did edit the character to make sure it is fully black, i was going to build upon the character but unfortunately i have ran out of time.

He is in permanent silhouette, meaning all the movements have to be exaggerated.
Animation?
This is the first prototype that uses significant animation. each frame was hand drawn by Bardent on YouTube, and then i edited slightly to fit my theme.

Looks weird due to Gif’s framerate, but each frame brings another state of the idle animation. This is done for the run, jump, fall and landing. Idle animation automatically plays when the player has no velocity.

This was the basic run cycle of the main character. it is fluid and fun to look at when running in game.

This was one of the enemies idles, however it is also messed up being a Gif. These are a lot smoother in game. I used the enemy idle for when i needed an enemy to stand still for an easy kill in the tutorial. The walking animation is then used for the rest of the game due to the enemy having a continuous left or right movement.
Conclusion
In conclusion Crystallo Suggestum is my most polished game, making sure that i spent many hours working on the codes to make sure they are bug free and able to be edited upon later. meaning that adding new things was easy as pie. the most difficult thing in the project will be the audio as i am trying to make it as minimalistic as possible, therefore, jumping ambience, and maby a few breaths will be all you be able to hear. Crystallo Suggestum.
