Week 5 Top Down Shooter Assets

On the fifth week we were tasked to create some assets for our Top Down Shooter. I made a few however some made it into other games as they were of no use after some gameplay changes.

Assets

These are the finalized versions of the assets, however 2 of these did not make it into the Top Down Shooter game. These being the purple sword in the red box acting as a damage powerup, and the explosive barrel. These did not make it due to gameplay reasons and not being able to fit them in without making bugs and or making it too easy for the player.

I feel like I did pretty well getting the general feel of how I wanted to portray the characters, i made them not have life and made it stick out to the player when on the ground. As I made the ground and player contrast as to you know where the player is at all times. I also feel as if it was decent at portraying the style i wanted where it is not too unrealistic but you know it is slightly in the future.

The little Triangle was there as i wanted a retro style game and i thought what is more retro than a triangle that can shoot. I think it looks pretty good in my humble opinion.

This was the original design for the bullet, however it didn’t fit into the overall style I was going for. Therefore, it was scrapped.

Inspiration

The inspiration for the robot design was made from a multitude of mech images and designs for a top down robot.

Using these designs as reference I made my design more blocky and more in tune with how robots are less rounded and more sharp to the edge.
