In week 2, we were tasked to merge photos and have them realistically put together. This means we have to think about how light affects the objects and how they should interact with the scene.

My first attempt has many flaws, but it should be expected due to being underwater and that can affect the the outcome.
The problems with this piece is that the only things that make it seem underwater are the colours and objects. However, it shows nothing else such as bubbles or kicked up sand.
Making something better!
Thinking about what went wrong last time, I realised that I was doing too much with the little amount I knew. Therefore, I tried again. Trying again made me think about what made my old photo bash good, I came to the conclusion that the lighting was pretty good!

Unlike last time, I went minimalist. I decided to make sure that I don’t have over 5 layers at most. This stops over complicating everything.
I made the airplane the only thing extra in the image, it gives a tense feeling as to if they are okay. I did this as it gives the same amount of dread as last time but is significantly simpler.
There is no inspiration for this piece except for the deep dark abyss of my mind. I like the ability of just looking through my mind and just doing what I think at the time, gives a sense of relief.
As to what I did with the image, I simply got the plane and cropped it into it the scene. However, since the hand somewhat obscure the plane, I had to take the hand and copy it over to a layer above the plane, allowing the plane to be behind the hand but in the scene. I also went into the layers and with the plane layer I added a small blur effect to get the essence of speed with a camera.
In Conclusion
In the second photo bash attempt, I made it a goal to get the lighting almost perfect and add small details to make sure it fits into the scene such as the blur and small shadows on the plane. But, I didn’t change the foreground image at all making it feel even more put into the scene as the more change I make the more unrealistic it becomes.
