VR Immersive Art

Introduction

Using VR we created 4 different things within the art programs, we were split up into groups and these are what we created. We were given around an hour with each program for all of us to create something in that hour. Unfortunately, some footage was lost.

ShapesXR

We created this small scene with ShapesXR messing around with the control and seeing what we could create. I created the small book and table in front of the person colouring the book and pens to how i think they should be like. The controls were a bit weird at fist but as i got used to them i was able to create things with more precision.

If i were to use this program i would probably use it mainly for prototyping my ideas before going into a different program to redefine and make more precise movements to the objects.

Open Brush

We created a small house together as a group, I personally made the small chair at the front, and a few flowers along with the bad snow on the roof. I feel like if I had more time to refine my skills I could probably make something nice but at my current skill I wasn’t able to create anything more than a small flower. My group did most of the good stuff in this program.

Gravity Sketch

Unfortunately, with gravity sketch we accidentally deleted our progress, however i can describe the scene. We built a Halloween themed area filled with witches, ghosts and bats. I made a ghost based of a Pacman ghost and then had a blood thirst Pacman following close behind turning the idea on it’s head as it’s typically the ghosts chasing Pacman.

Adobe Aero

With Adobe aero we could put items in google earth to view when you came across it. Due to the time i could only put a large star next to the DAIM building however i got confused on how to view it. I probably wouldn’t use this program as it seems static compared to the rest.

If I was to use this medium

If i were to use this medium i would probably choose gravity sketch as my preferred program. Gravity sketch allowed us to create a painting on a canvas that was in 3d space and it felt very intuitive to use. it allowed freedom of drawing i have never experienced before and it felt like if i were given enough time i could create a breath-taking scene. Compared to the other programs i feel like this was the best program that allowed me to do whatever i feel looked great, it also came with a large selection of great brush’s that all felt good to use.
